पुराणों के अनुसार चैत्र कृष्ण पक्ष की एकादशी पाप मोचिनी है (Chaitra kirshna paksha Ekadashi know as Papmochani Ekadashi) अर्थात पाप को नष्ट करने वाली. स्वयं भगवान श्री कृष्ण ने इसे अर्जुन से कहा है.
पाप मोचनी एकादशी व्रत कथा (Papmochni Ekadasi Vrat Katha)
कथा के अनुसार भगवान अर्जुन से कहते हैं, राजा मान्धाता ने एक समय में लोमश ऋषि से जब पूछा कि प्रभु यह बताएं कि मनुष्य जो जाने अनजाने पाप कर्म करता है उससे कैसे मुक्त हो सकता है. राजा मान्धाता के इस प्रश्न के जवाब में लोमश ऋषि ने राजा को एक कहानी सुनाई कि चैत्ररथ नामक सुन्दर वन में च्यवन ऋषि के पुत्र मेधावी ऋषि तपस्या में लीन थे. इस वन में एक दिन मंजुघोषा नामक अप्सरा की नज़र ऋषि पर पड़ी तो वह उनपर मोहित हो गयी और उन्हें अपनी ओर आकर्षित करने हेतु यत्न करने लगी. कामदेव भी उस समय उधर से गुजर रहे थे कि उनकी नज़र अप्सरा पर गयी और वह उसकी मनोभावना को समझते हुए उसकी सहायता करने लगे. अप्सरा अपने यत्न में सफल हुई और ऋषि कामपीड़ित हो गये.
काम के वश में होकर ऋषि शिव की तपस्या का व्रत भूल गये और अप्सरा के साथ रमण करने लगे. कई वर्षों के बाद जब उनकी चेतना जगी तो उन्हें एहसास हुआ कि वह शिव की तपस्या से विरत हो चुके हैं उन्हें तब उस अप्सरा पर बहुत क्रोध हुआ और तपस्या भंग करने का दोषी जानकर ऋषि ने अप्सरा को श्राप दे दिया कि तुम पिशाचिनी बन जाओ. श्राप से दु:खी होकर वह ऋषि के पैरों पर गिर पड़ी और श्राप से मुक्ति के लिए अनुनय करने लगी.
मेधावी ऋषि ने तब उस अप्सरा को विधि सहित चैत्र कृष्ण एकादशी का व्रत (Chaitra Krishna Ekadasi Vrat) करने के लिए कहा। भोग में निमग्न रहने के कारण ऋषि का तेज भी लोप हो गया था अत: ऋषि ने भी इस एकादशी का व्रत किया जिससे उनका पाप नष्ट हो गया। उधर अप्सरा भी इस व्रत के प्रभाव से पिशाच योनि से मुक्त हो गयी और उसे सुन्दर रूप प्राप्त हुआ व स्वर्ग के लिए प्रस्थान कर गयी.
पाप मोचनी एकादशी व्रत विधि (Papmochni Ekadasi vrat vidhi):
पाप मोचनी एकादशी के विषय में भविष्योत्तर पुराण में विस्तार से वर्णन किया गया है। इस व्रत में भगवान विष्णु के चतुर्भुज रूप की पूजा की जाती है। व्रती दशमी तिथि को एक बार सात्विक भोजन करे और मन से भोग विलास की भावना को निकालकर हरि में मन को लगाएं। एकादशी के दिन सूर्योदय काल में स्नान करके व्रत का संकल्प करें। संकल्प के उपरान्त षोड्षोपचार सहित श्री विष्णु की पूजा करें। पूजा के पश्चात भगवान के समक्ष बैठकर भग्वद् कथा का पाठ अथवा श्रवण करें। एकादशी तिथि को जागरण करने से कई गुणा पुण्य मिलता है अत: रात्रि में भी निराहार रहकर भजन कीर्तन करते हुए जागरण करें। द्वादशी के दिन प्रात: स्नान करके विष्णु भगवान की पूजा करें फिर ब्रह्मणों को भोजन करवाकर दक्षिणा सहित विदा करें पश्चात स्वयं भोजन करें.

In our most basic form, we are all made of the same thing. We are creations of God & are all hewn from the same rock (Isaiah 51:1).
But we do not all function the same.
As Paul outlines in II Corinthians, there is one body but many parts, & each part has a different function. Regardless of the function, each piece of the body is valuable & offers something unique & needed.
Each of us has a calling & an anointing working in us, leading & guiding us.

Somvati Amavasya Fast Story
A friar used to visit a group of moneylender having seven wedded children and an unmarried little girl. He used to request charity and as an exchange used to favor the little girl in-law with euphoric wedded life. However he never gave gift of marriage to the girl of the house and this made the young lady and her mother stressed. The stressed mother instantly called a Pandit to see the Kundali of her girl. The Pandit told about the ominous Yog of getting to be widow in her fate and as an answer asked the young lady to go the island Singhal where carried on a washer ladies. Further he approaches her to request the Sindoor from that woman and wear on her temple and besides to watch the quick of Somvati Amavasya, as it would expel unfavorable Yoga from her Kundali. On listening to this, mother asked for the children to go, on which, the most youthful child consented to run with her sister. Both of them cleared out and arrived at the seashore. While thinking how to cross the stream, they sat under a tree on which a vulture used to live with his baby in the home. On the conception of a vulture, a snake used to consume him up. That day, when the vultures were out and the babies began making commotion, the snake came. The young lady comprehended the event and murdered the snake with her fortitude. On returning and seeing their youngsters alive, the joyful vultures helped the young lady to go to the place of washerwomen. On serving the washerwomen for months, the woman got satisfied with the young lady and connected Sindoor on her temple. The young lady left instantly without drinking water. On the way she spun around a Peepal tree, adored the tree, watched the quick of Somvati Amavasya and afterward drank water. Along these lines her ominous Yogas were crossed out and she got to be blessed.
